Summary: The editor copyedits digital and printed materials to make sure they adhere to Saint Louis Art Museum style guidelines and writes promotional and publicity materials.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in the development, refinement, and implementation of Museum style guidelines.
Copyedit the Museum Magazine; Gallery Materials (including wall texts, object labels, maps, Currents brochures, and other associated materials associated with main and ancillary exhibitions, gallery rotations, and gallery reinstallations); and other printed materials produced by Marketing and Communications, Development, Learning and Engagement.
Assist the Communication Manager in the development of press releases and other press materials.
Assist the Communication Manager in the writing of some portions of the Museum Magazine.
Write copy for exhibitions, select events, and other portions of slam.org that are managed by Marketing and Communications.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in English or a relevant related field required, including coursework in editing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize projects and deadlines, maintain editorial standards, work closely with multiple departments, and exercise independent judgment.
Knowledge of Chicago Manual and AP Style necessary.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, as well as with electronic editing using pdfs and website content management systems.
Additional Details
Minimum of Range: $21.71 per hour; commensurate with experience
Work Hours: Full-Time (37.5 hours/week). Benefits eligible on first day of employment.
Selected candidates will be required to submit to a criminal background check and drug test before hire.
