Location: Hybrid (remote + in-person at 6740 Loughborough Ave., Saint Louis, MO)

Who We Are
Kindness Begins with Me works to build a thriving community with refugee families in St. Louis. We primarily serve Middle Eastern refugee women who often cannot access resources due to childcare and transportation barriers. Our core programs are women’s socials, English classes, and driver’s permit classes / driving practice. We are looking for a program director who is passionate about making a meaningful impact in the lives of refugees with a strong background in program management and a desire to lead initiatives.

Position Summary
As Programs Director at Kindness Begins with Me, you can combine a high-impact role with significant work schedule flexibility and family-friendly work conditions. You will lead a small team of talented coordinators to ensure that our weekly programs educate, fight isolation, and support self-sufficiency. This role has significant room for growth within the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the smooth execution of all three weekly programs.
  • Provide operational support by attending programs as needed.
  • Develop new initiatives within the three core programs where needed and as resources allow.
  • Provide leadership and assistance to program and volunteer coordinators. Directly oversee:
    • English Class Coordinator
    • Women’s Education Social Coordinator
    • Driving Program Coordinator
    • Volunteer Coordinator
  • Assist in developing program budgets
  • Provide programmatic reporting for attendance and outcome metrics.
  • Work with team to ensure all volunteers, staff, and clients have appropriate training, background checks, and waivers.

Qualifications:

  • A true desire to assist refugees in successfully starting their new lives in America.
  • Previous work experience in non-profit program operations and administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and manage staff.
  • Proficiency in managing operation-based programs within budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and lead meetings and events.
  • Must be proficient in general computer knowledge, specifically Google Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively among a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
