Development Manager Position Description
Organization Overview
The St. Louis Area Diaper Bank is dedicated to fostering healthy communities by eliminating diaper need and period poverty through access, education, and advocacy. Our efforts are supported by two primary programs aligned with our mission: the diaper program, which annually distributes diapers to 60,000 families, and the period supply program, which provides menstrual supplies to 20,000 individuals.

Position Overview
As Development Manager, you will manage the day-to-day fundraising operations, contribute to setting campaign goals and strategies, and organize meetings with current and potential donors to cultivate relationships. Your objective includes crafting a diversified funding strategy tailored to the organization’s requirements, encompassing various donor sources and solicitation methods, including grant writing.
Responsibilities:
Fundraising
- Lead and manage major fundraising campaigns in coordination with the Development Committee and Executive Director
- Prospect for new funding sources, utilizing a multi-channel process
- Establish positive relationships with individual donors, corporate, civic and government organizations
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals and priorities
- Collaborate with and support the Executive Director and Development Committee in efforts to engage the Board in fundraising
Grants
- Write and maintain grant summaries that outline deliverables, reporting requirements, and other relevant details
- Independently identify, write, manage, and submit grant proposals in a timely manner
- Maintain a master grant and reporting calendar, ensuring all deadlines are met
- Work with the Program Manager, Community Engagement Manager, and other staff to gather program information for grant reporting and submissions
- Research and identify new funding opportunities and grants
Administrative
- Ensure timely communications with donors and prospective donors, including emails, thank-you notes, and phone calls
- Collaborate with the Operations & Finance Manager to update cash flow projections based on development activities and trends and collaborate on monthly reconciliation between both departments
- Handle mailings, emails, and administrative development tasks as needed
- Update and manage the donor database
Development Plans
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support the organization’s mission and programs in coordination with the Executive Director
- Perform other development-related activities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three years of development experience, including a combination of donor recruitment, grant writing, database management and event coordination
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional organizational and writing skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet established goals within tight timeframes
- Strong computer skills, including familiarity with standard applications and databases
- Proven self-starter with a detail-oriented approach
- Adaptable and thrives in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment
Salary and Benefits:
This is a full-time position requiring some evenings and weekends for event support. The salary for this position ranges from $55,000 to $65,000 per year, based on experience. St. Louis Area Diaper Bank staff is primarily in the office due to the nature of the work, however, occasional work from home is available as staff coverage allows. The compensation package includes PTO, holiday and sick leave pay, a comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, and life insurance), a SIMPLE IRA plan with 3% match, and 12 paid holidays, including Christmas through New Year’s Day.
