Position Title: CDA Program Manager

Reports to: STAR Chief Operating Officer

Status: Full time, Term Limited

Hours: Flexible (Includes evening and weekend hours)

Salary: $45,000 -Term Limited

S.T.A.R Inc. (Staff coaching, Training, Advocacy & Resources) for Early Childhood Educators is a 501c3 organization designed “to enhance the Early Childhood workforce by preparing educators to work effectively with young children, thus building on the foundation for the love of teaching and learning.

Our Mission is to increase the number of Early Childhood Educators in programs with the shared vision of making quality education a priority for all children. STAR strives to improve experiences with children and their families by educating an interdisciplinary workforce, providing training and coaching (TTA) assistance within the community.

About the Position:

S.T.A.R.’s Program Manager provides research-based strategies to implement quality in childcare environments through coaching, observations, and training for early childhood educators. The CDA Program Manager partners with, STAR Facilitators, childcare programs and educators to establish interventions using evidence-based best practices derived from peer-reviewed research, Missouri Early Learning Standards and approved assessment criteria. The CDA Program Manager evaluates implementation results and guides educators through a reflective progress, engagement, and goal-focused action plans to obtain achievable outcomes. The CDA Program Manager supervises a team of 3-4 part-time staff.

What you’ll do: 

• Develop research- and evidence-based professional development sessions for educators, families, and the community.
• Ensure variety, Diversity and Inclusion to the training sessions to account for the many ways in which a participant learns new information. This will enable trainings to be an effective and engaging experience for all participants
• Develop training and receive state approval of training in both in-person and virtual methods.
• Schedule and conduct research- and evidence-based professional development classes, sessions, and programs for educators, families, and the community.
• Travel to a variety of locations when conducting trainings
• Maintain a robust professional development catalog while using state required platforms for approval and maintenance.
• Create a Database that documents all events within the programs, public conducted within the Education Department in the Children Database. (i.e.: site visits, training, etc.
• Assist in answering provider questions regarding upcoming training.
• Assist with keeping provider current with training information and registration for upcoming trainings, conferences and events
• Answer all education and training related questions with providers and STAR admin and CDA department staff.
• Assist in development and support an annual agency professional development plan for providers.
• Read and familiarize yourself with the work plan and contracts within the agency to ensure that you are aware of the responsibilities of the Education Department in meeting deliverables.
• Collaborate with the STAR Adim and internal teams to ensure education and training deliverables are met.
• Collaborate with internal teams to support classroom integration of skills providers learned in professional development.

• Complete required agency reporting on time and accurately
• Actively participate in required meetings, events, facilitator professional development training and conferences

What we’re looking for: 

  • Five years in the field of early care and education which could include experience as a Center Director/Owner, Supervisor or Certified preschool teacher that has worked in a supervisory role in early childhood setting.
  • Conducted adult-learning workshops and/or provide state approved trainings (small and large groups)
  • Served as a liaison with customer/provider groups.
  • Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Elementary Education, Child Development, or an associate degree with at least 30 hours of ECE related college credits; a CDA Credential will count for 9 of the 30 required credits.
  • Understanding and ability to coach adult learners to implement quality practices.
  • Knowledge of Missouri Office of Childhood/DESE Rules and Regulations and Missouri Early Learning Standards and Best Practices.
  • Professional working proficiency of written and spoken English.

Additional Education Preferred 

Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Elementary Education, Child Development or a bachelor’s degree in another field of study with at least 36 ECE related college credits.

Requirements for this position: 

  • Ability to travel between locations during the business day for meetings and support of program activities. Must have car and ability to travel independently (proof of insurance required). Site visits are vital to this position.

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills; proven ability to communicate with diverse audiences.
    Ability to manage multiple tasks including proficiency in balancing direct service responsibilities with effective record keeping.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, able to manage multiple tasks and priorities, set and meet goals and deadlines.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to maintain documentation and reports.
  • Ability to maintain knowledge of Missouri Office of Childhood/DESE Rules and Regulations
  • Must have knowledge and proficiency in use of technology, Google Suite, Microsoft programs and Zoom. (Word, Excel, and Office 365 required)
