At this pivotal time, Missouri University of Science & Technology is actively searching for a dynamic and results-driven individual to join our team as an Executive philanthropic advisor for the Kummer College of Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development.

This individual will be expected to partner effectively with campus faculty, staff, and administrators to solicit and close major and principal gifts in support of multi-million-dollar capital projects including the Innovation Lab and Welcome Center; a newly created College of Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development; K-12 STEM Outreach.

Regular presence on the Rolla campus is desired, however remote work arrangements may be considered.

The Team

Led by Tory Verkamp, Vice-Chancellor for University Advancement, the unit includes development and major gifts, annual fund, advancement services, and the Miner Alumni Association. The development team thrives in a collaborative, hard-working, and collegial environment. Position Summary:
As liaison to the Kummer College of Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development, the executive philanthropic advisor will:

–          Cultivate relationships with alumni, benefactors, and corporations to solicit and secure major and principal gifts for featured University campaign objectives and College priorities.

–          Using agreed upon metrics, advance the mission, vision, and short and long-term goals of the University and the College.

–          In coordination with the Dean and University Advancement develop and execute an annual fundraising plan.

–          Assist the Kummer College of Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development Dean in developing a philanthropic vision for college priorities and related cases for support.

–          Provide fundraising coaching, mentoring, and training to members of the university community and fellow colleagues as needed.

–          Develop and deliver new proposals, retain a major benefactor portfolio, and travel as necessary.

–          Actively participate in events and/or programs associated with specialized constituents to move benefactors toward major gifts, enhance development efforts and identify comprehensive objectives for collaboration while eliminating duplication and streamlining resources.

–          Serve as a member of the Development leadership team and as an exemplary University advocate in the community, with local leaders, alumni organizations, business and corporate partners, and other leaders and key constituents.

–          Be active and involved in the advancement profession and faithfully represent Missouri S&T and the Kummer College of Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development.

Supervision Received: General supervision is received from the Assistant Vice Chancellor for University Advancement and Vice Provost and Dean of the Kummer College of Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development.

Supervision Exercised: Administrative supervision is exercised over professional staff including fundraisers and professional staff.

Minimum Qualifications –

–          A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 7 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications –

–          Minimum seven years of fundraising experience.

–          Proven success in campaign management, including major gift solicitation in higher education.

–          Project management skills.

–          Experience with capital/infrastructure fundraising.

–          Excellent written and oral communication skills.

–          Disciplined use of a central database for benefactor and prospect contacts.

–          Strong knowledge of philanthropic practices, ethical standards, and fund type implementation.

–          Ambitious professional with integrity, collaborative spirit, and a history of building strong relationships with academic leaders, benefactors, and team members. Working understanding of a research university environment is helpful.
