Director of Data Services – St. Louis, MO

The Humane Society of Missouri is looking for a uniquely qualified person to be our Director of Data Services.  You will oversee the data strategy and analytics initiatives for the Humane Society of Missouri’s fundraising efforts. This role involves leading a team of three data services personnel in a high-volume transactional environment, ensuring the integrity and security of our data infrastructure, and driving data-driven decision-making across the organization.  Ideal salary range is $85,000 – $95,000, but may go outside that range if needed.  Some relocation assistance is available.

What You’ll Do:

  • Leadership and Team Management
    • Supervise and mentor a team of three data services personnel.
    • Work closely with Special Projects Manager.
    • Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment.
    • Manage competing deadlines and projects effectively.
  • Data Strategy and Management
    • Develop and implement data management strategies to support the organization’s goals.
    • Oversee the use and integration of data platforms including RE NXT, MailChimp, Omatic, Fundraise Up, Microsoft Suite, Trello, and Basecamp.
    • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security across all platforms.
  • Transaction Management
    • Oversee the entry, acknowledgment, and reconciliation of 50,000 gift transactions annually.
    • Ensure timely and accurate processing of all transactions.
  • Analytics and Reporting
    • Lead the development of metrics and performance review processes.
    • Provide strategic insights through data analysis and reporting.
    • Oversee the creation and management of requests, queries, lists, and reports for various campaigns across departments.
  • System Optimization and Integration
    • Optimize data workflows and processes to improve efficiency.
    • Integrate data from various sources to provide comprehensive insights.
    • Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in data management and analytics.
  • Collaboration and Thought Partnership
    • Act as a thought partner and collaborator with senior leadership.
    • Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with Blackbaud and RE NXT.
  • Proven experience in data management, analytics, and reporting.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in using data platforms such as RE NXT, MailChimp, Omatic, Fundraise Up, Microsoft Suite, Trello, and Basecamp.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
