The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities of St. Louis is to provide comfort, care and a home-away-from-home for families of seriously ill children. Our objective is to enable families to practice family-centered care by providing them with all of the basic comforts of home.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of St. Louis has a full-time Marketing & Communications Manager position open.  This position is part of a mission-focused team of professionals providing compassion and hospitality to families with seriously ill children.

This position manages all RMHC St. Louis Communications including branding, print, digital marketing, and public relations and provides communications support to all departments.

This position also oversees the Merchandise Program and supports the Ambassadors Program.

As part of RMHC, this position collaborates with team members to achieve position and organization goals in support of the RMHC mission and Core Values.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Degree in journalism, communications or marketing
  • Relevant and significant experience in Communications
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Canva and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong writing, editing, and graphic design skills
  • Experience with social media management and website management
  • Management experience preferred
  • Interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, work independently and meet deadlines effectively
  • Ability to adjust schedule to fit organization’s needs

Essential Functions: 

  • Works closely with multiple departments to design and implement communication strategies and effective messaging for organizational and project-specific goals.
  • Oversees marketing and communications for the organization, including:
    • Writing, editing and graphic design
    • Creating and updating web content
    • In-house photography & videography
    • Creating PR, marketing and fundraising materials
      • Press releases, newsletters, and public service announcements
      • Media pitches and alerts
      • Family and volunteer stories
      • Home Away from Home digital solicitations and communications
    • Overseeing organization’s marketing-related budget line items
  • Oversees RMHC digital marketing program & online communications
    • Helps develop, implement, and track an overall strategy for digital marketing and communications
    • Regularly updates social media channels and website.  Maintains website for accuracy and updates it as programs evolve
    • Manages the News@rmhcstl.com email account and responses, coordinating across the organization as needed
    • Serves as liaison between partnered agencies and the organization for Search, Display, and other online advertising services
  • Manages Merchandise Program
  • Supports Ambassadors Program
    • Creates recruitment and training materials and materials for Ambassador use
    • Conducts volunteer training in partnership with others
  • Works closely with development and programs staff to design and implement communication strategies and effective messaging for organizational and project-specific goals including but not limited to
    • In-House and Third-Party event promotion
    • Meals from the Heart
    • Red Shoe Society
  • Manages assigned committees and subcommittees, including:
    • Preparing materials
    • Communicating with (sub)committee chair(s) regularly
    • Record keeping
    • Attendance
  • Responsible for crisis communication execution, in collaboration with E-Team members
  • Regular and reliable attendance

Physical Demands

Must be able to concentrate and remain focused while handling multiple tasks, responsibilities and projects.  Must be able to perform bending, twisting, stooping, reaching and lifting of moderate to heavy weight material up to 10-15 lbs.  Must be able to frequently climb stairs, including up to 4 flights, and frequently walk distances up to approximately 80 yards.  Must be able to travel between RMH locations as needed.
