Job Title: Director of Development

Reports To: Chief Development Officer

Location: The Core Collective at St. Vincent

Employment Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Position Summary
The Director of Development is a dynamic and strategic leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of The Core Collective’s development and communications efforts. This individual will lead initiatives to engage donors, elevate the organization’s brand, and ensure operational excellence in fundraising and donor stewardship. The Director of Development will manage a robust portfolio of responsibilities, including communications, donor engagement, data management, volunteer coordination, and in-kind contributions, while supervising the Grants Manager and supporting major development strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Communications and Branding

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy, including social media, website content, email campaigns, print marketing, and public relations.
  • Oversee messaging and branding to ensure consistency and alignment with The Core Collective’s mission.
  • Create and distribute compelling content such as newsletters, blogs/vlogs, and the organization’s annual report.
  • Manage media relationships and lead efforts to increase public awareness and engagement

Database and Donor Management

  • Oversee the donor database and fundraising platform to ensure accuracy, integrity, and adherence to data entry policies
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for efficient and secure data management.
  • Lead acknowledgment and stewardship processes to enhance donor satisfaction and retention.
  • Manage a portfolio of individual donors contributing under $1,000, ensuring personalized engagement and cultivation strategies.

Fundraising and Appeals

  • Execute and evaluate annual appeals to meet organizational fundraising goals.
  • Assist in the identification, research, and cultivation of prospective donors/funders, including individuals, foundations, corporate and government entities.
  • Analyze donor and fundraising data to inform strategies and measure success.

Event Management

  • Plan and execute fundraising events, ensuring they align with the organization’s mission and goals.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver impactful events that engage donors and partners.

Volunteer and In-Kind Donations

  • Develop and manage policies and procedures for volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and engagement.
  • Oversee the solicitation, tracking, and acknowledgment of in-kind donations to support programs and events.
    Supervision and Collaboration
  • Supervise the Grants Manager, providing guidance and oversight to ensure the successful execution of grant proposals and reporting.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Development Officer and leadership team on fundraising strategies and organizational priorities.

Administrative and Historical Records

  • Manage requests for historical records and ensure proper archiving and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in nonprofit fundraising, communications, or development.
  • Proven expertise in donor engagement, communications, and event planning.
  • Strong understanding of donor database management and data analytics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and storytelling.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and collaborate with team members, volunteers, and donors.
  • Experience with supervising staff and managing external vendors or consultants.

  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in donor database systems (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge) and communication tools. Proficiency in eTapestry and GiveSmart a plus.

Other

  • Occasional evening and weekend work required for events or donor meetings.

Compensation: $73,000.00 – $78,000.00 per year

Experience:

Work Location: All work will be conducted on-site. This is not a remote or hybrid position.
